Break your fast with water or fruit/vegetable juice that is 50% juice and 50% water. Drinking the juice alone can lead to blood sugar levels to spike.
Do not consume sugar, alcohol, fast food and junk food during the first week post your fasting.
If you had fruits during your fasting period then you can substitute it with a bowl of green and leafy salad to break your fast.
Do not go for a heavy meal immediately. Eat small portions every two or three hours.
Add low glycemic index carbohydrates, such as vegetables, whole grains, beans and legumes to your post fasting diet.
Opt for foods that are high in protein and fibre but low in calories.
