Bihar Elections 2025 - Internal Strife Rocks Both NDA and INDIA Bloc Over Seat Sharing
As nominations for the Bihar Assembly elections are being filed, intense disputes over seat allocation are raging within political parties. Even after the NDA finalized its seat-sharing formula, dissent among leaders is surfacing. A JDU leader has even threatened to resign, writing a letter to Nitish Kumar. BJP's Giriraj Singh has expressed objections to the formula, particularly unhappy with the seats allocated to Chirag Paswan. Both the NDA and the INDIA bloc are grappling with internal conflicts.
NDA's Internal Unrest
The moment the NDA's seat-sharing formula was unveiled, a storm erupted. In the alliance, BJP and JDU received an equal share of 101 seats each. Chirag Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) secured 29 seats, making him content, but causing displeasure within JDU, while meanwhile, Jitan Ram Manjhi's HAM and Upendra Kushwaha's RLM were allotted 6 seats each, leaving both leaders disheartened. Manjhi, who had demanded 15 seats, has warned that the limited allocation could harm the NDA's prospects.
The Mahagathbandhan (INDIA bloc) is yet to finalize its seat distribution. Congress and Mukesh Sahani's Vikasheel Insaan Party (VIP) are unhappy with RJD's alleged formula. Reportedly, RJD supremo Lalu Yadav had distributed some tickets, which. Were later revoked by Tejashwi Yadav, highlighting internal party friction. Congress is insisting on 61 seats, while RJD aims for its desired share. VIP, along with Left and CPI (ML) parties, are demanding more seats than in the previous elections. The growing rift between RJD and Congress is evident, with. Tejashwi Yadav reportedly visiting Delhi but not meeting Rahul Gandhi. With only four days left for nominations, uncertainty looms large for many candidates in both alliances.
