Coronavirus / 336 coronavirus cases and 12 deaths reported in India in last 24 hours

New Delhi:The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare today said that 12 deaths reported in the past 24 hours have pushed up India's toll to 56. A total of 336 new cases were also reported over the past 24 hours. At least 647 confirmed cases of cornavirus have been reported from 14 states over the last two days and are related to the Tablighi Jamaat meet in Delhi's Nizamuddin area.

At least seven Delhi Police personnel who were involved in vacating the site of the 'markaz' meet at south Delhi's Nizamuddin area last month have been quarantined. Earlier today, a 55-year-old man died in a government hospital in Vijayawada, the Andhra Pradesh government confirmed that coronavirus was the cause of the death, making it the first casualty in the state where the total number of positive cases rose to 161. The man contracted the disease from his son, who returned from New Delhi after attending the Tablighi Jamaat congregation on March 17.

- Covid-19 cases related to Tablighi Jamaat have been reported from 14 states. 

- 647 coronavirus positive cases found in the last 48 hours all to Tablighi Jamaat congregation.

- So far about 66,000 tests have been done, 8,000 in the last 24 hours, the highest in a single day. 

-Health Minister Harsh Vardhan appeals patients and their families not to create any obstacle in the path of doctors while they discharge their duties.

- Strict action to be taken in cases of attack on doctors and paramedical staff.
