Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, surrounded by the highest number of rape cases against women in the country, has said that 56% of crimes against women have been found to be false. He said that I would like to tell the DGP that those who file false cases, they should have a serious case and take it to the logical end, so that more people do not dare to defame the state by doing so. The Chief Minister said that the cases of rape are increasing in Rajasthan because we have the facility of mandatory FIR in the police stations. If someone goes with a complaint then FIR has to be registered.

According to the data released from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), Rajasthan has been on the top in rape cases since the year 2020. According to the NCRB report for the year 2021, Rajasthan recorded the highest number of 6337 rape cases in the entire country last year. Madhya Pradesh is at number two, where 2947 cases of rape were registered in a year. Rajasthan is second only to UP in terms of crime against women.

Speaking to the media at the Rajasthan Police Academy, Ashko Gehlot said, "Crime is less in Rajasthan as compared to other states. Earlier many people did not step into the police stations for fear of humiliation. Now The atmosphere of the police stations has changed. We have made welcome rooms in the police stations and made provision for compulsory FIR. Compulsory FIR is a revolutionary step. Now whoever goes to the police station with a complaint, his FIR has to be lodged. It should be implemented in every state. "

Referring to the NCRB report for the year 2021, the Chief Minister said that the increase in crime and the police registering more cases are clearly two different things. He said that the criticism should be based on facts and the fact is that due to the policy of the state government, there has been an increase in the number of cases registered. While attacking the opposition BJP, Ashok Gehlot said that if someone criticizes, never feel bad. It hurts when rumors run without facts. Without naming BJP, he said that they are nervous because of government schemes and programs and run negative campaigns.

Ashok Gehlot said that whether it is Jalore or Alwar, BJP leaders are instigating people by spreading lies. Significantly, a Dalit student was killed in Jalore after allegedly beating up a teacher. However, the police have a different claim. Gehlot said that even in the Alwar case, BJP leaders had claimed that a mentally challenged girl was raped, while police investigation revealed that she had died in an accident. He said, "Opposition should discharge its role with honesty and truthfulness. We are not arrogant and constitutional violators like them. Democracy is in danger and agencies like ED, Income Tax Department and CBI rule is going on."
