Rajasthan | The news is coming about the election of Congress President. If reports are to be believed, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot may contest for the post of Congress President. It is being told that for this, you can file your nomination from 26 to 28 September.

Meanwhile, sources close to Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot say that instead of thinking of running for Congress president, he is trying to persuade Rahul Gandhi to do so. He is a loyal soldier of Sonia and Rahul Gandhi.

Let us tell you that as the election for the post of Congress President is approaching, the demand for making Rahul Gandhi the President once again within the party has intensified. In the same sequence, on Monday also eight local units of the party, including seven state Congress committees, passed resolutions in support of Rahul Gandhi.

After Rajasthan, Gujarat and Chhattisgarh, Congress units in Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Jammu and Kashmir and Bihar and Mumbai today passed resolutions saying that Rahul Gandhi should once again take over the reins of the party.

Many state Congress committees have passed this resolution at a time when the state units of the Congress on Tuesday passed a resolution asking that the next president of the Congress be authorized to appoint new state presidents and delegates of the All India Congress Committee. Rahul Gandhi said earlier this month that he had taken a decision, but would not reveal his plans.

He had also said that if he does not contest the upcoming elections for the post of party president, he will give reasons for it. Rahul's remarks have been seen as an indication in the party that he is not willing to contest for the post of party president. In recent times, several senior Congress leaders have said that the Gandhi family will continue to have a special place in the party even if Rahul does not become the party president.

Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram on Sunday supported the consensus for the selection of the President of the All India Congress Committee (AICC). He said whether Rahul Gandhi is the party president or not, he will always have a "special place" in the party as he has "acceptance" among the party's common workers.

The notification for the election of Congress President will be issued on September 22 and the process of filing nominations will go on from September 24 to 30. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is October 8. Voting will be held on October 17 if there is more than one candidate. The results will be declared on October 19.
