Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot is seen gearing up for the post of Congress President. Gehlot has called a meeting of all Congress MLAs of Rajasthan late tonight. It is believed that he has started fielding before the presidential election. According to the information, the MLAs have been invited for the reception at the residence of the new Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar. After this, 10 Chief Minister Gehlot will hold a meeting with the MLAs.

Ashok Gehlot's activism assumes a lot of significance with the election dates for Congress President approaching. Significantly, in the election of Congress President, Ashok Gehlot and Shashi Tharoor are being considered as a contest. Yesterday, Shashi Tharoor met the interim president of the party, Sonia Gandhi. During this, Sonia had made it clear that the elections would be held in a fair manner. The party will not field an official candidate.

It is noteworthy that the process of election of the National President of Congress is starting from September 24. Nominations for this will be filed by 30 September. If nominations are made by two or more candidates for the post of President, voting will be held on 17 October. The results of the Congress Presidential election will be out on October 19.
