Cricket Desk: India's stand-in skipper Ajinkya Rahane gave an emotional speech in the dressing room after India scripted history Down Under by clinching the recently-concluded Test series against Australia 2-1. Rahane became only the second Asian captain after Virat Kohli to lead his side to a Test series triumph on Australia soil as India successfully managed to breach Australia's fortress at The Gabba in the series-deciding fourth Test.

Riding on Rishabh Pant's unbeaten 89 and Shubman Gill's 91, India pulled off a record chase of 328 runs at The Gabba in their second innings to stun Australia and win the series 2-1. BCCI on Saturday shared a video of Rahane's speech to his teammates in the dressing room post the historic series win.

In the video, Rahane can be heard lauding his teammates for bouncing back after the Adelaide debacle to win the Test series 2-1. The skipper also had a special message for spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who did not manage to get a single game throughout the Test series. Rahane can be heard telling Kuldeep to keep working hard and that his time will come.

"As we draw curtains on our historic triumph and start our preparations for the home series, here’s Captain @ajinkyarahane88‘s address to #TeamIndia from the Gabba dressing room," BCCI wrote.

"This is a massive moment for all of us. What happened in Adelaide, how we came back from Melbourne onwards was really good to see. Everyone did their effort, everyone contributed, it was not about one or two individuals. I just want to mention Kuldeep Yadav and Kartik Tyagi,” Rahane said during his pep talk to the team.

“Kuldeep, I know it was tough for you, you did not play a game here but your attitude was really good. Your time will come, just keep working hard. Kartik you were fantastic," Rahane added.

Rahane had taken over the captaincy from the second Test onwards after regular skipper Virat Kohli returned home on paternity leave for the birth of his first child post the conclusion of the first Test in Adelaide. Rahane helped the team stage a comeback in the second Test with an 8-wicket win in Melbourne to level the series before churning out a heroic draw in the third Test and a memorable win in the final game.
