India / Dr Harsh Vardhan Says If Vaccine Supply Is Still An Issue, Its The Fault Of The States

New Delhi: Several states including West Bengal, Rajasthan, Jharkhand and Punjab have complained of vaccine shortage. In view of this, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan today said that leaders should spend more energy in making plans and not in spreading panic. He said leaders should avoid the "shameless urge to do politics" amid the pandemic.

Dr Harsh Vardhan said, “I am seeing irresponsible statements by various leaders regarding the biggest vaccination campaign. I am telling some facts so that the public can understand the intentions of these leaders. After the Government of India provided 75 per cent of the vaccines free of cost, vaccination gained momentum and 11.50 crore doses were administered in June.”

He said that if states have problems, it shows that they need to plan their vaccination campaign better. In another tweet, the minister said, "If these leaders are aware of these facts and still make such statements, then I consider it very unfortunate. If they are not aware of this, then they should pay attention to the government. Again I would urge these leaders to put more energy in planning and not in spreading panic."
