An incident has come out from Nayagarh in Odisha which shows how even today some sections of society are stuck in the shackles of superstition. People of a village here tried to resurrect a dead man with a mantra. The postmortem of the deceased had already taken place.

In this modern era of science and technology, this shocking incident took place in Barasahi village under Sarankul police station in Nayagarh district. The deceased was identified as Rabi Nahak.

In fact, 45-year-old Nahak took part in 'Danda Nacha', a local festival. According to the tradition associated with this, Nahak had not eaten anything for 36 hours. Nahak was rushed to the district headquarters hospital after he fell ill two days ago, where he succumbed. According to hospital protocol, a postmortem took place on Sunday and the body was handed over to close people. The body was brought to the village.

But instead of performing the last rites of the deceased there, the villagers called a sweeper. He started invoking the soul of the deceased with mantras. The villagers and the family members of Nahak also started praying in the belief that Goddess Kali and Lord Shiva would forgive the deceased and that he would rise again. Finally, on Monday evening, the villagers cremated Nahak.

In this regard CDMO of Nayagarh Dr. Talking to Shakti Prasad Mishra, he said, it was revealed from the postmortem that Nahak died due to dehydration which was caused by heat-stroke.
