Jaipur. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot wrote a letter to Union Road Transport Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari requesting him to prepare a broad traffic movement management scheme on NH-25 for smooth transport of products and by-products of Refinery cum Petro Chemical Complex being established at Pachpadra.

Gehlot said a goods transport gallery could be made in nearby areas of Refinery project and the whole Jodhpur-Barmer section of NH-25 be widened up to six lanes. He also requested that provision of service lane should be included in this scheme to provide facilities like parking, rest house, restaurant, service station and fuel station for the travelers and vehicle drivers. Looking at the national importance of this project Road Transport Ministry could issue orders for early implementation of this traffic movement management scheme, he said.

The Chief Minister in his letter said the construction of the refinery project is in full swing and it is expected to be completed by October-2022. In this project production of 5 MMTPA petroleum products and 4 MMTPA petro-chemical products is expected. Out of which 2 MMTPA products will be transported by road. It is also planned to set up a petro-chemical based industrial hub, he said.

Gehlot in his letter further said that the movement of heavy vehicles will increase during the construction of Refinery cum  Petro-Chemical Complex and besides this public and private transport will also increase very fast. It is expected that around one thousand truck and oil tankers could pass through petro-chemical complex area per day. Currently, this section of NH-25 is of two and four lanes and not having dividers. After increase in the traffic flow the safety of commuters will be jeopardized, he added.

The Chief Minister said keeping in view all these facts and the future requirements of the traffic management in petro-chemical complex area the Union Road Transport Ministry could prepare a wide scheme and give orders for its implementation besides widening of NH-25 to six lanes.
