China News: After more than two years, China on Monday announced plans to issue visas to hundreds of Indian students stranded due to COVID restrictions. Apart from this, plans were also announced to issue visas for various categories including business visas for Indians. Ji Rong, Counselor in the Department of Asian Affairs at the Chinese Foreign Ministry, tweeted, "Heartfelt congratulations to the Indian students! Your patience proved worthwhile. I can, in fact, share your enthusiasm and happiness. Welcome to China!"

Over 23,000 Indian students were back home

Ji Rong's tweet cited a detailed announcement by the Chinese Embassy in New Delhi to introduce visas for students, businessmen and families of those working in China. The X1-Visa, according to the announcement, will be issued to students who want to go to China for a longer period of time for higher academic education. In addition to new students, these include students who want to return to China to continue their studies. More than 23,000 Indian students went back home due to COVID visa restrictions. Most of them are medical students.

Students from many more countries have already reached China

China had asked for the names of those who wanted to return immediately for their studies and after that India submitted a list of several hundred students. Some students from Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Russia and several other countries have already reached China on chartered flights in recent weeks. An announcement published on the website of the Chinese Embassy in Delhi said student visas would be issued to new students as well as old students who could not travel to China due to the COVID visa restrictions. According to official sources, over 1,000 old Indian students have expressed their desire to continue their studies.
