Jammu and Kashmir / Health workers wade through knee-deep waters to vaccinate people in remote area

Rajouri: In a brilliant portrayal of dedication, a team of healthcare workers crossed a river while they were on their way to conduct a Covid vaccination drive at a remote area in Kandi block of Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district.

The visuals of these medics slowly crossing the gushing river have been widely lauded by netizens online.

In the visuals, the members of a medical team can be seen crossing the river with a cold box.

At first, two women and a man begin crossing the river wherein the water seemed to be at about knee-deep level. The three held each other as they waded through the river water to reach the other side. Following them, 2 more health workers, one of whom can be seen carrying a cold box, also began crossing the river.

Several netizens have lauded these medics for their dedicated service in the battle against Coronavirus pandemic.

Block Medical officer of the Kandi area, Dr. Iqbal Malik told news agency ANI that an extensive vaccination drive was carried out in the Kandi block on Friday.

"The aim is to vaccinate 100 percent population against Covid-19 even in far-flung and inaccessible areas," Malik said.

According to the official data, 33,98,095 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been administered across Jammu and Kashmir.

"Out of this as many 28,41,054 people have received their first dose while 5,57,041 people have received both the doses of Covid-19 vaccine," the Union Health Ministry stated.
