Huawei is planning to launch a new budget smartphone in India soon and it is called the Huawei Y9 (2019). Unlike the Mate or Pro series phones from the company, this one is likely to be under Rs 30,000, or it may even possibly be under Rs 20,000. The Huawei Y9 first went official back in October 2018 as a phone designed for the young generation.

The Huawei Y9 first went official back in October 2018 as a phone designed for the young generation. The phone touts a big 6.5-inch display and a 4,000mAh battery, among other things. Given the large screen size and a huge battery inside the phone, it seems that Huawei is going to position the Huawei Y9 as a multimedia phone. In other words, this could be a good phone for Indian users who like to watch a lot of videos on their phones, whether those are the Hindi movies they have loaded in their phone or YouTube videos.

The Amazon India page does not reveal the exact date for the launch of the Huawei Y9 (2019), but it is likely going to happen in January. This is a budget smartphone that runs on a Kirin 710 chipset coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The phone succeeds the Y9 (2018) that was launched early last year but never made it to India. Huawei has been showing a renewed interest in India after launching the Mate 20 Pro as the first-ever Mate-series device in India last year and now with the Y9 (2019).

The Huawei Y9 (2019) sports a 6.5-inch FHD+ (1080x2340) FullView display with a notch. The phone features a dual camera setup on the back that includes a 13MP primary sensor and a 2MP secondary sensor. Notably, it also gets dual front-facing cameras with a 16MP + 2MP configuration. The cameras get AI-based features thanks to an AI-powered Kirin 710 chipset. The phone also gets a GPU Turbo feature that enhances gaming performance. The Y9 (2019) comes with a 3D arc design on the back with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. It also comes in three attractive colours - Midnight Black, Sapphire Blue and Aurora Purple.

The other big highlight is that the Huawei Y9 (2019) houses a large 4,000mAh battery that should offer enough juice for consumers looking to consume a lot of media or play graphic intensive games on a smartphone. The Huawei Y9 (2019) was announced in October with EMUI 8.2 based on Android Oreo. It will be interesting to see whether the company launches the device in India with the same OS or with a more current EMUI 9 based on Android Pie.
