Indian bowlers led by Mohammad Shami and Ravindra Jadeja blew away the South African top and middle order and bundled them out for 191 after lunch on day 5 of the first Test in Visakhapatnam on Sunday. India won the match by 203 runs.

Mohammad Shami and Ravindra Jadeja were the wreckers-in-chief. Shami took 5 for 35 and Jadeja 4 for 87. The first innings hero Ravichandran Ashwin took 1 for 44.

With this victory, India remains on top of the ICC Test Championship table.

Starting the day at 11 for 1, South Africa lost Theunis de Bruyn early to Ravichandran Ashwin. With this wicket, Ashwin became the joint fastest to take 350 Test wickets.

Mohammad Shami got into the act to remove Bavuma (0), Faf du Plessis (13) and Quinton de Kock (0) in quick succession. South Africa were 60 for 5 at that stage.

Then Ravindra Jadeja removed Aiden Markram (39), Vernon Philander (0) and Keshav Maharaj (0) in one over to put South Africa in deep trouble.

Reeling at 70 for 8, South African tail-enders Senuran Muthusamy and Piedt repaired the innings with 91-run partnership for the ninth wicket. Brought into the attack, Shami castled Piedt for 56 and polished off the last wicket of Rabada.
