IND vs SA | Praising Suryakumar Yadav, who batted brilliantly in tough conditions in the opening match of the three-match T20 series against South Africa, Indian opener Lokesh Rahul said it was unbelievable to see his attacking batting on a difficult pitch. Rahul told how Suryakumar Yadav's batting helped him in grooming his innings and help Team India win.

On Wednesday, on a damp and bouncy pitch, Suryakumar scored 50 not out in 33 balls while Rahul played a not out innings of 51 runs in 56 balls. Chasing a target of 107 runs, India won by eight wickets. Earlier, in front of the fast bowlers Arshdeep Singh (3 wickets) and Deepak Chahar (2 wickets), South Africa could only manage 106 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs. India chased down the target in 16.4 overs.

India also had a poor start while chasing the target. The team lost the wickets of captain Rohit Sharma (0) and Virat Kohli (three) early and Rahul struggled to score runs in the power play. In the first six overs, the team's score was just 17 runs for two wickets. After the match, Rahul said, 'Obviously, it was difficult to bat on this pitch. We have batted on such difficult pitches in the past but the match could not be scored there. So it was a very difficult innings.

Praising the aggressive batsman Suryakumar Yadav, he said, "It was unbelievable to see Suryakumar playing such shots as soon as he stepped on the field. You must have seen how the ball was swinging here. The ball was getting double speed from the pitch and some balls were coming to a halt. It would have been difficult for anyone to bat on it.

The Indian vice-captain said, 'Suriyakumar was hit on the body on the very first ball. After that he wanted to play the shot, take an aggressive approach against the bowlers. This gave me an opportunity to spend time at the crease. It helped me play big shots towards the end of the innings.
