New Delhi: All kinds of speculations are being made about the meeting of leaders of Jammu and Kashmir called by PM Narendra Modi. One of these discussions is that Jammu and Kashmir can be reorganized once again or there can be talk about giving statehood. But government sources have dismissed all such speculations and said that this meeting has been called for delimitation. Government sources said that even though the Center has talked about giving statehood to Jammu and Kashmir at an appropriate time, but that time has not come yet. Sources say that the government wants to build a political consensus for this effort, for which work has started from the first week of June.

Not only this, government sources say that in this meeting there can be talk about giving statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, but for any such decision, Parliament's approval will be necessary. In such a situation, that decision will not be taken by any such meeting. Apart from this, clearly rejecting the speculations of giving special status to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370, it has been said that no question of this arises. At present, the central government is preparing for the assembly elections in the state and delimitation will be done under that.

Under the delimitation, the boundaries of the Assembly and Lok Sabha constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir will be fixed. Last year, the Delimitation Commission has been constituted under the chairmanship of retired Justice Ranjan Prakash Desai, which has written a letter to the administration of all the districts and has sought basic information. Let us tell you that the demand for delimitation in Jammu and Kashmir has been rising for a long time. A meeting has been called by PM Narendra Modi in Delhi on June 24. For this, 14 leaders of 8 political parties have been invited. These include PDP's Mehbooba Mufti and National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah and his son Omar Abdullah.

This will be PM Narendra Modi's first meeting with the leaders of the state after the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir in August 2019 and the reorganization of the state. However, till now many leaders have spoken about the boycott of the meeting of the Delimitation Commission. National Conference leaders Farooq Abdullah, Hasnain Masoodi and Mohammad Akbar Lone have not attended any meeting. Sources say that in the meeting, PM Narendra Modi can appeal to all the leaders for cooperation in the process of delimitation so that the process can be completed with consensus. Apart from this, through this meeting, he also wants to give a message to the international community that the Government of India is ready for talks with all the parties.
