PATNA: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Monday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to extend the lockdown till May 31 so that the large number of people returning the state could be screened and managed properly at the quarantined centres

“We will agree with whatever decision the centre will take about the lockdown. But our suggestion is that the lockdown should be extended upto the end of this month so that the Bihar government would have convenience in managing the large number of people returning the state,” Nitish told the PM during the latter’s video-conferencing with chief ministers of all states.

Nitish further said the lockdown should be extended also because the suspect cases (of covid-19) returning from the outside of the state should be identified properly and they should be kept at the quarantine centres to save other people from infection.
