Political temperatures are set to rise in Uttar Pradesh with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati set to address separate rallies in the state. Besides Ayodhya, crucial constituencies Amethi, Raebareli and Lucknow will go to polls in Phase 5 on May 6. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Mahagathbandhan in Uttar Pradesh are set for a face off today rally in Ambedkarnagar.

Political temperatures are set to rise in Uttar Pradesh with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati set to address separate rallies in the state. Besides Ayodhya, crucial constituencies Amethi, Raebareli and Lucknow will go to polls in Phase 5 on May 6. Meanwhile, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi continues to campaign in Amethi and Raebareli. Her brother, Congress president Rahul Gandhi, will hold a rally in Ramnagar in UP on Wednesday. Samajwadi Party leader Jaya Bachchan claimed that the person responsible for safeguarding the country is the one who is creating chaos and disorder, in an apparent reference to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "At this point in time, the one who is responsible for protecting the nation is the one who is creating chaos and disorder," she said while addressing a rally here on Tuesday.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's face was already "withered" though almost half the electioneering was yet to be completed. "Aur ek baat samajh lijiye. Modiji ka chehra dekh lijiye. Aadha election khatam ho gaya hai. Bhaiyon behno, Modiji haar rahe hai, unka chehra dekhiye sikud gaya hai. Unke interview dekhiye...jhijhak ke bol rahe hai, dar dar ke bol rahe hai. haiyon behno, Congress party aa rahi hai. Congress party ki sarkar aa rahi hai," Gandhi said.

The Aam Aadmi Party has written to the Election Commission alleging Prime Minister Narendra Modi violated the model code of conduct by asking government officials to send information about their areas before his visits there.

In its letter, the party has cited a media report according to which an e-mail was sent by the government's NITI Aayog asking bureaucrats in Union territories and at least one BJP-ruled state to send to the Prime Minister's Office inputs on local area knowledge ahead his visits.Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Mahagathbandhan in Uttar Pradesh are set for a face off today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a rally in Ambedkarnagar, around 30km from the disputed site of the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute. Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party-Bahujan Samaj Party will hold a joint rally on the Faizabad-Barabanki border.
