State / Major fire breaks out in Kochi's Broadway street, three shops burnt down to ashes

A major fire broke out in Kochi’s busy Broadway on Monday morning at around 10 AM. At least three shops including one textile shop have been destroyed beyond recognition in the blaze. The cause of the fire is not known yet. People, comprising shop keepers and shoppers, have been evacuated from the area.

As of now, no one is injured, going by the reports from the spot. Four fire engines have been put to use to douse the fire.

This is the second major fire in the state in recent days. On May 21, a massive fire broke out in East Fort region in Thiruvananthapuram, burning down several shops in the commercial hub of the state capital.
