New Delhi : The expansionist policy of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) may cause a blow to the opposition unity. The way TMC has given place to Congress leaders in its party, it has brought bitterness in the relationship between both the parties. With this, the efforts of opposition unity against the BJP have also suffered a setback.

The way Mamata Banerjee has inducted Congress leaders in Delhi ahead of the winter session of Parliament, it is clear that the Trinamool Congress is desperate to play the role of a leader at the national level. In this regard, Mamta can also meet Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar soon.

Congress suffers the most

The Congress has suffered the most due to this policy of Mamta. Because, maximum Congress leaders have joined TMC. One reason for this is that all is not well in the Congress. The party is going through a leadership crisis. Infighting is at its peak and many senior leaders are adopting a rebellious attitude.

In Meghalaya, there was speculation for a long time that 10 MLAs along with former Chief Minister Mukul Sangma would quit the party. The party leadership also tried to allay his displeasure by summoning Sangma to Delhi. But, Sangma and his supporters relied more on the Trinamool Congress than the Congress leadership.

Trinamool moving ahead under a simple strategy

Trinamool Congress is moving ahead with a very careful and simple strategy. Trinamool Congress can ally with Samajwadi Party in UP. But in Goa and Manipur, the party is giving an open challenge to the Congress. A senior Trinamool leader said that by 2024, we want to expand to ten states.

The goal is to achieve the position of the main opposition party

The way Mamata Banerjee is inducting Congress leaders into her party, it is clear that her first goal is to get the place of the main opposition party. However, it is not easy for Trinamool. For this, the party will have to participate in the assembly elections to be held till the Lok Sabha elections.

Trinamool's move may harm opposition

This move of Trinamool Congress may harm the opposition. Because, Trinamool is a regional party. In such a situation, there is a doubt on the gathering of other regional parties under the banner of one regional party. At the same time, Congress is a national party, so there will be no objection to any regional party gathering under its banner.

The effect will also be visible in the Parliament session

The effect of this expansionist policy of Trinamool will be visible in the Parliament session as well. The entire opposition was uniting and surrounding the government on the issues of agricultural laws, but now the opposition may be scattered. Therefore, senior Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury is terming this policy of Mamta Banerjee as a decision taken under the pressure of BJP.
