Cricket Desk: Soon after AB de Villiers‘ blitzkrieg in Dubai, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Delhi Capitals (DC) locked horns in Sharjah. The Men in Yellow won the toss and opted to bat first only to lose their opener Sam Curran in the first over for a duck. They recovered well later thanks to decent knocks from their middle-order batsmen. However, it was Ravindra Jadeja who provided the much-needed late flourish for CSK to finish on 179 runs on the board.

The left-hander smacked an unbeaten 33 off just 13 deliveries with a four and four massive maximums. Rather one of those sixes went on the roads of Sharjah, not for the first time in this IPL. However, what happened later left commentators also in splits.

The incident took place in the 18th over when Tushar Deshpande was bowling. The pacer delivered a length ball to Ravindra Jadeja who was backing away. And the batsman just nonchalantly played a pick-up shot over deep square leg region for a huge six. Not surprisingly, the ball travelled enough distance to go on the roads. One of the fans, probably was waiting for the ball, hilariously ran down the middle of the road to pick it up.

As soon as the ball fell on the middle lane of the road, the fan ran towards and picked it up even as the commentators lauded his daring. Rather Simon Doull said that he wouldn’t have even got a chance to run on the roads if it was a weekday.

CSK post a competitive total

On the back of Ravindra Jadeja’s brilliant knock, CSK posted a competitive total on the board. Ambati Rayudu also played his part during the 50-run stand in just 21 deliveries. He scored an unbeaten 45 off 25 balls with a four and four sixes having come in to bat in the 12th over of the innings.

However, MS Dhoni once again failed to weave his magic with the bat while Faf du Plessis scored a valiant half-century. Shane Watson also did well to muster 36 runs as CSK ended on 179 runs for the loss of four wickets.
