MG Hector has taken the SUV segment by storm. While people were already awestruck by its overall design, MG (Morris Garages) Motor India seems to have hit the bull's eye with the prices. Who could have imagined Hector being launched at Rs 12.18 lakh (ex-showroom, India)? Yes, you read that price right.The popularity of MG Hector has soared to such an extent that the company has already received more than 10,000 bookings for the premium SUV since the pre-orders started on June 4. The first week of July will also see MG Motor India starting the deliveries of the pre-booked units.The entry-level MG Hector is cheaper than the base variants of Mahindra XUV500, Tata Harrier and Jeep Compass. However, the price is higher when compared to Hyundai Creta.Powering MG Hector is a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that makes 143 PS and 250 Nm of torque. There is also a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel motor that delivers 170 PS and 350 Nm of torque. Besides, there is a 48V hybrid option with the petrol trim as well. While all the three mills come with a standard 6-speed manual gearbox, the petrol option also gets an automatic 6-speed DCT (Double Clutch Transmission)The new MG Hector is being offered in four trims.
