Auto / MG Hector launch on June 27

MG (Morris Garages) Motor India will officially launch the much-anticipated Hector in the country on June 27. Unveiled on May 15, MG Hector is expected to be priced between Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). The premium SUV will challenge the likes of Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV500, Jeep Compass, Hyundai Creta and the higher variants of recently-unveiled Kia Seltos.

MG Hector bookings had opened on June 4, with the premium SUV being booked through the official company website on payment of Rs 50,000. On June 15, the test drives for the upcoming vehicle had begun.

Powering the new MG Hector is a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol motor that delivers 143 PS and 250 Nm of torque. It is being offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox, along with an option for a 6-speed DCT (Double Clutch Transmission). There is also a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel mill that makes 170 PS and 350 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The gasoline variant also has a 48V Hybrid System option and it comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

MG Hector is available in four variants -- Style, Super, Smart and Sharp. There are five colour options -- Aurora Silver, Candy White, Starry Black, Burgundy Red and Coloured Glaze Red. Talking about the fuel efficiency aspect, the petrol MT will return with a figure of 14.16 kmpl, with the petrol DCT making 13.96 kmpl. The hybrid trim will offer 15.81 kmpl. The diesel mill is going to be the most fuel efficient at 17.41 kmpl.

So far as features are concerned, the new Hector gets front grille with surrounding chrome accent, LED headlamps, LED DRLs, LED tail lamps, LED front and rear fog lamps, dual tone machined alloys, shark fin antenna and floating light turn indicators. The spacious cabin of the premium SUV features a 10.4-inch HD touchscreen AVN system, 7-inch coloured MID, 2nd-row seat recline, eight colours ambient lighting, eight speakers and tweeters. Its USP is the iSMART connectivity technology.

With regard to safety features, MG Hector has six airbags, ABS with EBD and BA, 360-degree camera, and front parking sensors. It also gets premium features like hill hold control, electric parking brake, ESP, TCS, TPMS and rear disc brakes.
