Bairagi said, I am very happy that my baby girl came into the world on a day that everyone will remember. I have named him 'Yas'. Officials said similar reports had also come from other parts of the state. 'Yas' got its name from Oman. The word is said to have originated from the Persian language, and in English it means 'Jasmine'.

The state government had earlier stated that the list of people evacuated from the affected sites included 6,500 pregnant women, who were relocated from low-lying areas and cyclone-affected areas. The government had said that many women, who were in the final stages of their pregnancy, were taken to the 'mother home' (delivery center) and other local hospitals.
