Cricket Desk: It was a record-breaking day in Sharjah where the fourth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) took place on Tuesday. As many as 416 runs were scored in 40 overs with the Rajasthan Royals (RR) defeating the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 16 runs. After the carnage from the likes of Sanju Samson and Faf du Plessis who together hit 16 sixes in the game, MS Dhoni, though in the losing cause, finished the game in style.

Tom Curran was at the receiving end of the onslaught as he dished out a few length deliveries to one of the best finishers in the world. And MS Dhoni in the final over is a sight to behold! His eyes lit up and whacked a slower length ball from the bowler over wide long-on for a huge 92-metre six.

Moreover, the ball went out of the ground and landed on the streets only for a lucky fan to collect and go home with a smile on his face. This wasn’t the only six and the man smashed one into the stands to make it three consecutive sixes off the over. However, Curran had the last laugh as he learnt from his previous mistakes and delivered the final ball wide of MS Dhoni to concede only a single.

Nevertheless, it was enough of a show for the Dhoni’s fans to cherish until CSK face Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in their next game on September 25.

CSK fall short of the target by 16 runs

Despite scoring 85 runs in the last six overs, CSK fell short of the target by 17 runs. However, it was due to Faf du Plessis that they came so close. The man witnessed his teammates go for a big shot early in their innings and get out and after soaking it all in, he decided to go berserk in the last six overs. And the former South Africa skipper was almost successful in it.

After starting slowly in the chase, Du Plessis ended up scoring 72 off just 37 deliveries scoring seven sixes during his stay in the middle and made sure that net run-rate of his team didn’t hurt much.
