Technical / Netflix expands Instagram Stories sharing to Android users

Instagram users can now share what they’re watching on Netflix on Stories. Similar to sharing Spotify songs on Instagram Stories, Netflix has integrated its share tool on the app.

This feature was first rolled out for iOS users earlier this January. It is now available for Android users globally. Netflix users can choose a TV show or movie to share on their Instagram Stories. Users can get started by simply tapping on the share icon. After this, select ‘Instagram Stories’ from the list and share it on your profile.

There’s also a clickable ‘Watch on Netflix’ link on the Instagram Story. Tapping on this link will take others directly to the Netflix app, and they can start watching the title right away. Like any other photo or video on Instagram Stories, users can edit their Netflix titles as well. Users can choose to add GIFs, stickers, text, emojis, and even edit them with filters.

Prior to this, Netflix allowed users to share titles on Instagram Direct. Netflix offers more app integrations like WhatsApp, Messenger and Twitter.

Netflix is the latest to join Instagram’s third-party app integration. Instagram opened this feature for Stories last May. It allows users to share content directly on Instagram Stories. Other third-party apps integrated for Instagram Stories include Spotify and GoPro. The photo-sharing app even entered into a partnership with Samsung to integrate Instagram Stories on the Galaxy S10’s camera.
