Guwahati: After China, India is the country with the second largest population in the world. It is constantly being said that if the situation does not improve, the country will soon leave China behind in this matter. At the same time, you must have read about the population density and population explosion in the country in your childhood. This is an issue on which the governments of many countries have been hesitant to work.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister of India's northeastern state of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma has taken a big decision. He said that the parents of more than two children in the state would be deprived of the benefits of the beneficial schemes of the state government.

The CM said, 'Population policy in the state has been implemented in the state. Therefore, whether it is the state's debt waiver scheme or other beneficial schemes, the benefit will be given according to the new population rules. At the same time, the new policy and rules will not be applicable to the people belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Tea garden workers / SC-ST community) working in the tea gardens of the state.

The CM also said that the Assam government will implement the two child policy in a phased manner. The proposed population control policy will not be implemented immediately in all the schemes in Assam as many schemes are run by the central government. He also said, 'There is no point in talking about what our parents or other people did in the 1970s. The opposition is saying such strange things and taking us back to the 70s.

'No impact on Centre's plans'

However, the proposed new population control policy in Assam will not be immediately applicable to all the schemes in the state, as the benefits of many schemes are also given to the states by the central government. In this episode the CM said. 'There are some schemes for which we cannot implement the 2 child policy, such as giving houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana or providing free admission in schools and colleges under central government schemes, these schemes will not be affected.'
