HMD Global launched the Nokia 8.1 premium affordable smartphone in India. It was launched with price of Rs 26,999 to succeed the Nokia 7 Plus. This model, however, comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. At the time of the launch, the company announced that a higher memory and storage variant will be available at a later date. The Nokia 8.1 will be available starting February 6, 2019.

The Nokia 8.1 6GB RAM variant will also be offered in two colours - Blue/Silver and Iron/Steel. HMD is also providing some exciting offers to consumers on purchasing the Nokia 8.1 such as 1TB of 4G data on eligible plans starting Rs 199 for Airtel prepaid customers, and 120GB additional data along with three months of Netflix subscription and one year of Amazon Prime subscription on plans starting Rs. 499 for Airtel postpaid customers.

Consumers who purchase the Nokia 8.1 using HDFC Bank Credit and Debit cards on EMI transactions done through Pinelabs terminals in offline stores will receive a 10 per cent cashback from February 6 to February 17, and 5 per cent cashback from February 18 to February 28. Consumers purchasing the device on Nokia's online store will get a gift card worth Rs 3,000. Amazon India is also offering an additional 2,500 off on exchange between February 6 to February 17.

Nokia 8.1 specifications

The Nokia 8.1 offers an elegant all-glass design complete with a Series 6000 aluminium frame with diamond cut edges and silver accents all around. It sports a 6.18-inch FHD+ (2246x1080) PureDisplay screen with an 18.7:9 aspect ratio.

The Nokia 8.1 is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 710 chipset. The new 6GB RAM variant should offer a more seamless experience while multitasking and intensively using the device. The Nokia 8.1 supports storage expandability up to 400GB via microSD card. It houses a 3,500mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. This is also the first Nokia phone to ship with Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box.The Nokia 8.1 offers a 12MP + 13MP dual cameras on the back with Zeiss-branded lenses. The primary sensor gets a 1.4 micron pixel, OIS, EIS and 2PD support. The device also comes with a 20MP front-facing camera. Connectivity options on board include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, GLONASS, among other things. The handset measures 154.8x75.76x7.97mm and weighs 180 grams.
