UP: Now, to run pre-primary classes (play schools) in Uttar Pradesh, recognition will have to be obtained from the state government. The state government is going to set rules for recognition of pre-primaries. Pre Primary Unit has been formed under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan. Will decide on standards and schemes related to pre-primary education. From the new academic session, the government is going to start pre-primary education from 1.80 lakh government Anganwadi centers.

Till now the government has been incorporating children from the age of six to formal education from class one, but from this year, children between the ages of three to six years will also be given formal education. The curriculum for this has been determined and all Anganwadi workers and workers will be trained by 31 March. The government is assuming that now there will be private investment in this area. If private institutions also want to run a play school, then it will be mandatory to get recognition from the council.

As of now, according to the guide lines issued by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, there is a rule of recognition. Child Development and Nutrition Department is the nodal department for this but it is not taken seriously. Many times the chairman of the commission has complained to the state government that care is taken care of recognition.

Is arbitrary

If the play schools run in the cities are attached to the CBSE or ICSE schools then the board rules are followed but the play schools which are run separately are arbitrary. The syllabus also varies. Now by adding pre-primary to primary education in the new education policy, play schools will also be controlled. As of now, the Basic Education Council recognizes Classes I to VIII.

Government will control

Once the rules of recognition are fixed, the institutions will not be able to run the play school in one or two rooms. For this, standards of facilities, security will be fixed. This will help the government tighten the schools. The schools will be according to the standards, there will be uniform curriculum and if all schools are run under one system, then children will also get better education.
