India / Odisha reports 4,761 new COVID-19 recoveries, tally reaches 1,70,193

Bhubaneswar: Odisha''s COVID-19 tally rose to 2,09,374 on Sunday as 3,922 more people tested positive for the disease, while 14 fresh fatalities pushed the state''s coronavirus death toll to 797, a health department official said.

The new cases were reported from all the 30 districts of the state, he said.

At least 2,309 cases were registered in quarantine centres, while 1,613 people tested positive for the infection during contact tracing.

Khurda district, of which Bhubaneswar is a part, reported the maximum number of fresh cases at 818, followed by Cuttack (380), Keonjhar (212) and Angul (200).

Three fatalities each were from Khurda and Cuttack, two each from Jajpur and Kendrapara and one each from Bolangir, Dhenkanal, Gajapati and Subarnapur, the official said.

Odisha now has 38,331 active cases, while 1,70,193 patients have so far recovered from the disease.

The state has tested over 31.11 lakh samples for COVID-19, including 49,049 on Saturday, the official added.
