New Delhi: As the second wave of corona epidemic in the country is increasing in the number of deaths, some people have built a temple in the name of Corona Devi in Coimbatore. This situation is similar to the early 1900s, when people were being killed due to the plague. At that time also, some people built the plague Mariamman temple together.

This temple was built after the outbreak of plague year after year in Coimbatore district and an idol was also installed in it. This temple of Corona Devi is located at Kamachipuram near Irugur on the outskirts of Coimbatore city. The temple has been established by the officials of Kamachipuram Adinam in their premises.

An officer from Kamachipuram Adinam told 'Corona Devi is a black stone idol, 1.5 feet tall and we are confident that the goddess will save people from this serious disease.' This is the second temple dedicated to Corona Devi in South India. Earlier a temple of this type has been constructed at Kadakkal in Kollam district of Kerala.
