New Delhi : PM Narendra Modi had reached Lumbini in Nepal on the occasion of Buddha Purnima and during this time he mentioned the common heritage from Ram to Lord Buddha. When he reminded the legacy of India's relations with Nepal, he also gave a stern message in gestures. Actually he first reached Kushinagar in UP and paid homage at the place of Parinirvana of Mahatma Buddha. After this, he reached Lumbini directly via helicopter, where a special helipad was built. But he did not land at Bhairahawa Airport, which is only 20 km from Lumbini, which is Nepal's second international airport.

It is being said that the reason for this was that this airport has been prepared with the help of China and India wants to see distance from it. This was the reason why PM Narendra Modi gave a big message by not landing here. Nepal's Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba inaugurated Nepal's second international airport, named as Gautam Buddha International Airport, at Bhairahawa just hours before Prime Minister Modi reached Lumbini. In such a situation, the non-landing of PM Modi at this airport was bound to become a matter of discussion.

Airport's connection with China, so PM Modi did not land?

The construction of the airport built in Bhairahawa took 7 years and capital of $ 70 million. This airport is just 5 kilometers away from the Indo-Nepal border. This airport is envisaged as the international gateway to Lumbini. The Government of Nepal has also signed agreements with 42 countries for the operation of international flights from this new airport. Obviously, the inauguration of this new airport is an important event for Nepal. But PM Modi did not land here and gave a message that if Nepal goes with China, it will have an impact on relations with India. It is clear that this will be a challenge for Nepal and it cannot take India and China together.

India had prepared the airport 5 decades ago

According to officials of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, Bhairahwa earlier had an airport for domestic flights only. It was prepared 5 decades ago with the help of India. This is the reason why India has been exasperated to include a Chinese company in its construction. For the past several days, there was speculation in the media of Nepal and India whether Modi would land at Bhairahawa airport or not. In the end, he decided not to land here and went straight to Lumbini by a special helicopter.
