New Delhi : The 6.5 meter high Ashoka Pillar has been built on the roof of the new building of Parliament House. It was inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi on Monday. Several Union ministers including Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla were also present on the occasion. This Ashoka Pillar is made of bronze and it will be visible from a distance. PM Narendra Modi also interacted with the workers engaged in the construction of the new building of Parliament House on the occasion of the inauguration of Ashoka Pillar.

Officials of the Central Public Works Department said that it took 9 months to build this Ashoka Pillar. Its structure weighs 9,500 kg and is 4.4 meters wide, the official said. It has been installed in the middle of the roof of the new building of Parliament House. Apart from this, a 6500 kg steel structure has also been prepared for support. He said that in the construction of this pillar, work was done in total 8 phases. It has been prepared in a total of 8 rounds including concept sketch, clay modeling and computer graphics.

The Ashoka Pillar was built in a total of 150 parts. These were assembled and then installed after being mounted on the roof. The work of assembling them was started at the end of April. It has taken about two months. Let us tell you that the work on the building of the new Parliament House is also going on fast. It has many such things, which will be different from the previous building. Indian architecture has also been given special attention in the design of the new Parliament House.
