New Delhi : The 6.5 meter high Ashoka Pillar has been built on the roof of the new building of Parliament House. It was inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi on Monday. Several Union ministers including Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla were also present on the occasion. This Ashoka Pillar is made of bronze and it will be visible from a distance. PM Narendra Modi also interacted with the workers engaged in the construction of the new building of Parliament House on the occasion of the inauguration of Ashoka Pillar.

It has been installed in the middle of the roof of the new building of Parliament House. Apart from this, a 6500 kg steel structure has also been prepared for support. He said that in the construction of this pillar, work was done in total 8 phases. It has been prepared in a total of 8 rounds including concept sketch, clay modeling and computer graphics.

The Ashoka Pillar was built in a total of 150 parts. These were assembled and then installed after being mounted on the roof. The work of assembling them was started at the end of April.
