New Delhi: Messaging app WhatsApp has said that users will not be given any moratorium regarding the privacy policy. WhatsApp said in Delhi High Court on Monday that users are being asked to accept the new privacy policy on its behalf. The social media company, through its lawyer Kapil Sibal, told the court that on its behalf, users are being asked to accept the privacy policy. Not only this, users who will not accept this policy, their accounts will be gradually deleted. Kapil Sibal said, 'We have requested users to agree on the policy. If they do not agree then we will delete them .., there is no proposal to postpone this policy.'

Controversy erupted on behalf of the company about the imperative to accept the privacy policy. The policy was announced by the company in January, after which it postponed it till May. According to the new policy of the company, WhatsApp will have the right to share some data related to the interaction of the users with the parent company Facebook. Hearing of the case has been postponed till June 3 from the High Court. The status quo was sought by the Additional Solicitor General Chetan Sharma and the petitioners. After this, the court decided to postpone the hearing of the case.

However, WhatsApp objected to the stay during the hearing. WhatsApp said this during a hearing in the High Court on a petition filed by Seema Singh and law student Chaitanya Rohilla. The petitioners demanded that the central government be ordered to ask WhatsApp to withdraw this new policy. If this is not possible then the users will get the option to accept the policy or not to choose the update of January 4, 2021.

The company had backed down on the protest, then adamant on the policy

At the time, the company had withdrawn its policy due to protests, but said in February that it would go ahead with its decision. Let me tell you that by writing a letter to WhatsApp on behalf of the central government, they had demanded to postpone the privacy policy, but even then the company has not changed its decision.
