India have been exceptional on the second day after throwing away the advantage with the bat in the first innings of the second and final Test against New Zealand. Though the pacers bowled exceptionally well to keep the opposition batsmen on the tenterhooks, it was Ravindra Jadeja who made the difference in the field and with the ball as well coming up as a surprise package for everyone.

If the ripping delivery he bowled to get rid of Colin de Grandhomme was not enough, Jadeja made a telling impact in the field by plucking arguably the best catch of the year thus far. The lower order continued to trouble India after picking the top seven wickets. This time it was the partnership between Kyle Jamieson and Neil Wagner as the duo took the team close to India’s first innings total.

Ravindra Jadeja shines in the field yet again

Just when it seemed that they will help New Zealand take the lead, Ravindra Jadeja pulled off the stunner to send the latter back to the hut. The incident took place in the 72nd over when Wagner miscued a pull off Mohammed Shami. The ball took the top edge and it was flying over the deep square leg area.

Jadeja was well inside the boundary line and one felt, the ball will fly over him. But Jaddu, being Jaddu, leapt up as high as he could’ve and put his left-hand up only for the ball to stick into his hand. Even after he fell down, Ravindra Jadeja made sure that the ball didn’t slip out of his hand. It was unbelievable stuff from him and once again proved why he is regarded as the best fielder in the world at the moment.

This wasn’t the only brilliance from the Saurashtra player on the field. He also took a sharp catch to send back BJ Watling packing for a duck. With the ball too, The left-arm spinner made an impact picking crucial wickets of Ross Taylor and Colin de Grandhomme in his 10 overs conceding only 22 runs.
