Maharashtra / Shock to Uddhav, 12 names given for MLC will be back, Governor gave permission

Mumbai : Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has suffered a major setback. Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari on Monday allowed withdrawal of the list of 12 names proposed for the Legislative Council (MLC) by the previous Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in 2020. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had also written a letter to the government for this. In this, he had demanded the withdrawal of the proposed names for the MLC, which is pending with the Raj Bhavan for nearly two years. Names like Urmila Matondar and Eknath Khadse are also included in this list.

Let us tell you that there were fierce allegations and counter-allegations between the then MVA government and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) sitting in the opposition at that time. The ruling party had accused the governor of working at the behest of the BJP.

The present Maharashtra government led by Eknath Shinde, in a letter to Governor Koshyari, had sought withdrawal of the list of 12 names for MLC nomination sent by the previous MVA government in 2020. Withdrawing the names, the government has told the Raj Bhavan that it will send a new list for MLC nomination.

Former CM Uddhav Thackeray had submitted a list of 12 names for nomination to the Legislative Council to the Governor in 2020. However, Koshyari neither rejected nor accepted it. Film actress actress Urmila Matondkar, Vijay Karanjkar, Nitin Banugde Patil and Chandrakant Raghuvanshi from Shiv Sena in this list. At the same time, Eknath Khadse, Raju Shetty, Yashpal Bhinge and singer Anand Shinde were from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). The Congress had named Rajni Patil, Sachin Sawant, Anirudh Vankar and Muzaffar Hussain.
