Cricket | The T20 World Cup to be played in India this year will be shifted to UAE. BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and Secretary Jay Shah gave this information on Monday. Ganguly said that the BCCI has informed the ICC that the T20 World Cup is being shifted to UAE. Ganguly said that this decision has been taken keeping in mind the health security of all the stakeholders. The BCCI President, however, said that the schedule of the tournament has not been finalized yet and a decision will be taken in the next few days.While talking to PTI, Ganguly said, 'We have officially informed the ICC (International Cricket Council) that the T20 World Cup can be shifted to the UAE. Details in this regard are being prepared. This decision has been taken keeping in mind the health security of all the stakeholders. Asked if the tournament would start on October 17 itself, Ganguly said, "We will finalize the schedule in a few days." A final decision has not been taken on whether the tournament will start from October 17.Even the ICC spokesperson confirmed that the world body is yet to decide on the final schedule. The ICC earlier this month gave the BCCI four weeks to decide and inform it whether India can host the event in view of the COVID-19 situation. In a letter to the state unit, Jay Shah said, 'It was not an easy decision and we took this decision after observing and considering the situation of Kovid-19 for months. There was a lot of damage during the second wave of Corona epidemic, after which this decision had to be taken for the safety and well being of the players and the organisers.
