The first match of the Test series between India and South Africa is being played at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. South Africa won the toss and elected to bat. Kagiso Rabada is not playing in this match. Rishabh Pant and Axar Patel have returned to the Indian team. Wicketkeepers Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel could be part of the playing XI together for the first time. South Africa has not lost a single Test under Temba Bavuma's captaincy. The team has won nine out of ten Tests, with one match drawn. The African team also won the World Test Championship title by defeating Australia in June this year.
