Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak doesn’t want to wait for a foldable iPhone. Apple’s rivals in the tech industry like Samsung and Huawei have already paved way for foldable phones with 5G support. Apple is still far behind this technology, but its co-founder Steve Wozniak really wants a folding iPhone, However, we won’t be seeing a foldable iPhone until 2020 or even 2021.

‘Apple has been a leader for quite a long time in a few areas such as touch ID, facial ID, and easy payment with the phone,” Wozniak said in a Bloomberg TV interview. ‘They’re not the leader in areas like the folding phone, and that worries me because I really want a folding phone.’

Apple recently filed a patent for a flexible display which appears to be an update of its 2016 patent. This updated patent comes with details explaining the hinge of the purported foldable phone. According to the patent images, the device folds in between much like the foldable phones launched recently. However, we won’t be seeing a foldable iPhone until 2020 or even 2021.

Apple’s rivals in the tech industry like Samsung and Huawei have already paved way for foldable phones with 5G support. Samsung’s Galaxy Fold opens up into a tablet with a large 7.3-inch screen. It also has a small 4.6-inch cover display. Galaxy Fold carries a hefty price tag of almost $2,000. Huawei on the other hand with it’s Mate X offers three displays on its foldable phone. Unlike Samsung’s Galaxy Fold, the Huawei Mate X features a borderless design with no notch or punch-hole camera.
