Karan Johar’s upcoming Bollywood film Takht starring powerhouse of talented actors Alia BhattKareena Kapoor KhanRanveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal, Janhvi Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar has already started creating buzz among the audience even before the shoot of the film started. Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan starrer Kalank flunked at the box office which was produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. The film was made on a large scale and was an instant failure. But looks like Kalank’s failure has not shaken KJo’s determination for his next directorial Takht. Even though a huge amount of money was invested in Kalank, Karan Johar is all set to make Takht on a even grander scale with a budget of whopping Rs 180-200 crores.

Going by the reports in Deccan Chronicle, a source has informed the publication that, "The budget of the film is indeed sky-high. But there was never a re-think over doing Takht. The failure of Kalank has nothing to do with Takht. Kalank was directed by Abhishek Varman, whereas Takht is being directed by Karan himself, his directorial undertaking since Ae Dil Hai Mushkil three years ago, and yes his most ambitious film to date. Karan's film would cost anything from Rs 180-200 crore. Supplementary finances are being negotiated at this very moment.”

Karan Johar, when appeared on Neha Dhupia’s chat show No Filter Neha, spilled some interesting details about his periodic drama. The filmmaker revealed that the film is based on Mughal era in which Ranveer Singh and Vicky Kaushal will play brothers. Going by the buzz, Ranveer Singh will essay the role of Dara Shikoh and Vicky Kaushal will step into the shoes of his younger brother Aurangzeb. The film, which is based on the fight to the finish for the Mughal throne. According to the reports in BollywoodLife, a source has confirmed that Alia Bhatt will be paired with Vicky Kaushal and Ranveer Singh will be romancing Janhvi Kapoor.

Earlier it was stated teat the first schedule of the film was supposed to hit he floors by June-July but has been postponed to the end of this year. This means that the film will hit the screens on Diwali 2020.
