IND vs ENG | India suffered a crushing 8-wicket defeat at the hands of New Zealand in the final of the World Test Championship. Indian batsmen disappointed a lot in this test match. Cheteshwar Pujara, who is called India's strong pillar in Test, flopped in both the innings. India now has to play a five-match Test series against England from August 4. The Indian management is considering dropping Cheteshwar Pujara from the playing XI. After Pujara's consistently disappointing performance, the management had to consider it. Due to their flop, the pressure is increasing on Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane.

According to a report in Inside Sports, the Indian management is looking to replace Pujara with either KL Rahul or Hanuma Vihari. Apart from this, Kohli can be promoted to number 3 in batting. Till now he plays at number 4 in Test matches. Pujara has been a key player in Team India's Test success but after some disappointing performances, including in the WTC final, he is being considered for a ouster. Take a look at Pujar's batting statistics since January 2020, his strike rate has come down to 30.20. Meanwhile, Pujara's highest score is 77 runs, which he scored against Australia in Sydney.

Pujara has not been able to score even a century in his last 30 innings. The average of Pujara since January 2020 is just 26.35. His defensive strategy gives the opposition more chances for a comeback. After the last century, he has scored 9 single digits. In such a situation, Team India can use its bench. They have two capable batsmen on the bench, KL Rahul and Hanuma Vihari.
