5 safety tips to keep in mind while making UPI payments:

Tip 1: Screen Lock

It is very important to maintain a strong screen lock, password or PIN, not only for your phone but also for any payment or financial transaction app. Not only does this prevent your phone from falling into the wrong hands, but it also helps prevent personal and important details from leaking out. However, you should avoid entering simple passwords like your name, date of birth, mobile number, etc.

Tip 2: Don't share your PIN

You should never share your PIN with anyone. Sharing your PIN leaves you vulnerable to fraud, as anyone can access your phone and transfer the amount. If you think your PIN has leaked, you should replace it immediately.

Tip 3: Don't Click on Unverified Links or Participate in Fake Calls

Many fake messages with unverified links will continue to appear in your inbox. You should avoid clicking on such links as it can cause you huge financial loss. You should also avoid fake calls. Caller pretends to call from your bank or other organization and may ask you for your details like PIN, OTP etc. Hackers usually share links or make calls and ask users to download a third-party app for verification. It is to be noted that banks never ask for PIN, OTP or other personal details.

Tip 4: Update the UPI app regularly

Every application needs updates and each update brings better features and benefits. You should always update the UPI payment app to the latest version.

Tip 5: Avoid using multiple payment apps

Avoid using multiple payment apps on your phone and only install trusted and verified payment apps from Playstore or App Store.
