De Villiers gave a statement on IPL

The batsman that is being mentioned is AB de Villiers of South Africa. De Villiers has given a statement regarding the world's richest cricket league IPL. AB has said that the Indian Premier League (IPL) changed his life. This former veteran batsman hopes that the first SA20 league (South Africa 20 League) at home will give the same benefit to the younger generation in South Africa.

6 teams will play in SA20 league

Six teams will participate in the first SA20 league and it will start on January 10 at Newlands. The first match of the league will be played between MI Cape Town and Paarl Royals. All the teams of the league have been bought by the IPL franchisee. De Villiers, who played in the lucrative T20 league from its inception in 2008 till his retirement last year, said SA20 will give the game the boost it needs in South African cricket.

youth will get benefit

De Villiers told Cricket South Africa (CSA), 'I think the SA20 league is happening at the right time in South African cricket. We have seen how well these leagues have worked in the respective countries. Our youngsters will get the experience of playing against the best players in the world from this base and platform. De Villiers' players to watch out for during the upcoming T20 league include young MI Cape Town batsman Dewald Brewis.

Brewis broke Dhawan's record

The 19-year-old Brewis, who grabbed headlines earlier this year by breaking Shikhar Dhawan's record for the most runs in the tournament in the ICC Under-19 World Cup, has been a consistent performer. After impressing in the IPL and Caribbean Premier League, he scored a blistering 162 off just 57 balls in Cricket South Africa's T20 Challenge. De Villiers believes Brewis has benefited from playing alongside members of England's world champion team like Sam Curran and Liam Livingstone, just as he benefited from playing alongside Australian legend Glenn McGrath when he first joined the IPL in 2008.
