IPL 2020 / What records did KL Rahul break with his 132*(69) against RCB?

Cricket Desk: KL Rahul guided Kings XI Punjab to their first win of the IPL 2020 with a record-breaking century against his former franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore on Thursday. Rahul, who opened the batting, raced to a 36-ball fifty as he found boundaries regularly. In the second half, Rahul cut loose to reach his hundred off 62 balls. Post his century, he faced seven balls where he smashed 32 runs helping him to finish on 132* off 69. This knock of KL Rahul boosted Kings XI to finish with 206/3 in their 20 overs.

Here are all the stats and records created by KL Rahul during his unbeaten 132 against RCB:

1 – KL Rahul’s unbeaten 132 is now the highest individual score by a captain, a wicketkeeper and also by an Indian in the Indian Premier League. Rishabh Pant’s unbeaten 128 for Delhi Daredevils in 2018 against SRH was the previous highest IPL score by an Indian and also by a keeper. Virender Sehwag’s 119 for DD against DC in 2011 was the previous highest IPL score by a skipper.

1 – The 132-run knock by Rahul is now the highest score by a keeper-captain in the Twenty20 format. The previous highest was Ishan Kishan’s unbeaten 113 in the 2018-19 SMA T20 tournament against Manipur.

2 – KL Rahul became only the 2nd player to score centuries in two different countries in the IPL. Rahul’s maiden IPL hundred came in India during the 2019 edition. AB de Villiers scored a century in 2009 edition in South Africa and two tons in India in 2015 and 2016 respectively.

2 – Rahul’s unbeaten 132 is now the 2nd highest individual score by wicketkeeper behind Kamran Akmal’s 150* for Lahore Whites against Islamabad in 2017 National T20 Cup.

4 – KLR now has scored four centuries in the Twenty20 format. Among Indians, only Rohit Sharma (6), Virat Kohli (5) and Suresh Raina (4) have scored as many as four hundreds in T20 cricket. Rahul is also the 4th Indian to score multiple hundreds as keeper after Rishabh Pant, Ishan Kishan and Wriddhiman Saha.

4 – KL Rahul became the first Indian to score centuries in the Twenty20 format in four different countries. Chris Gayle has struck T20 hundreds in seven different nations while Brendon McCullum and Cameron Delport hit in four countries. (Considering the Caribbean Islands as one country)

60 – Rahul completed 2000 runs in the IPL with his second scoring shot of the match. He took 60 innings for the milestone; the fastest Indian by surpassing Sachin Tendulkar (63).

132* – KL Rahul’s 132* is now the 2nd highest individual score by an Indian in T20 cricket. The highest is recorded by Shreyas Iyer with his 147 for Mumbai against Sikkim in 2019.

132* – Rahul’s unbeaten 132 is now the highest individual score in the Twenty20 format in UAE. The previous highest was William Porterfield’s unbeaten 127 for Ireland in a T20 game against the USA.

132* – The 132* by Rahul is now the 4th highest individual score in T20 cricket by any captain. It is also the highest T20 score as captain by an Asian surpassing Dasun Shanaka’s 131* in the SL Domestic T20.
