The accused was identified

The accused has been identified as 22-year-old Amandeep Singh. According to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) in British Columbia, Amandeep Singh was already in police custody in Ontario. "IHIT has collected evidence and obtained sufficient information to charge Amandeep Singh with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder," police said.

Police said Amandeep Singh is an Indian national who spends his time in Brampton, Ontario, Surrey, British Columbia and Abbotsford in Canada. Investigators have not released any further details of the arrest, citing the ongoing investigation and court processes, CBC News reports. This comes days after Canadian police arrested three Indian nationals Karan Brar, Kamalpreet Singh and Karanpreet Singh in Edmonton. All three were charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

However, India rejected the allegations as "absurd and motivated". According to the Foreign Ministry, Canada has not been able to present any evidence to prove its claim on this murder.

The police statement said that based on the evidence obtained by IHIT in the investigation, there is sufficient information for the BC Prosecution Service to charge Amandeep Singh with murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Police said that Amandeep Singh is an Indian citizen, living in Brampton, Ontario, Canada.

Three Indian citizens arrested

Investigators have not released any further details of the arrest, citing the ongoing investigation and court proceedings. The arrest comes days after Canadian police arrested three Indian nationals Karan Brar, Kamalpreet Singh and Karanpreet Singh in Edmonton.
