Chandrayaan 3 Mission: Vikram Lander, sent to the Moon's South Pole through India's Chandrayaan-3 mission, has shared information about the Moon's surface. A rover has also been sent through the Chandrayaan-3 mission, named Pragyan Rover, which is engaged in collecting samples from the lunar surface. Four days after Chandrayaan-3's soft landing on August 23, ISRO on Sunday shared the first information sent by Chandrayaan-3. This is the first time in history that the soil around the South Pole of the Moon is being investigated.

Graph on variation in temperature

ISRO has shared a graph on the variation in the temperature of the lunar soil at different depths. It explains how the temperature changes on the surface of the Moon. Actually, the first observation made through the Chandra Surface Thermophysical Experiment (ChaSTE) engaged in Vikram Lander has been released. ChaSTE has prepared a temperature profile of the upper surface of the Moon's South Pole.

Temperature checking equipment

The scientific information collected through ChaSTE will give scientists a better understanding of the changing behavior of the lunar surface. The ChaSTE sent to the moon under Chandrayaan-3 is fitted with temperature checking equipment. Through these, the land of the moon can be dug up to 10 cm. ChaSTE is not only equipped with earth-boring mechanisms, but also has 10 temperature sensors.

Temperature change record

In the graph released by ISRO, it has been told how the temperature is changing in depth. The temperature at the deepest point of the lunar surface is up to 10 degrees. ChaSTE recorded the change in temperature from the upper surface to the lower surface at the lunar south pole. ISRO said that Chandrayaan-3 has prepared the first temperature profile of the South Pole of the Moon.

First country to land on South Pole

Earlier, ISRO had told on Saturday that two of the three objectives of Chandrayaan-3 mission have been achieved, while scientific experiments are going on under the third objective. Chandrayaan-3 made a soft landing on the Moon's South Pole on 23 August. With this, India became the first country to land on the Moon's South Pole. Apart from this, India became the fourth country to land on the moon after America, China and Russia.
