Jammu-Kashmir News: Monsoon has caused heavy devastation in North India this time. Incidents of cloudburst and floods are being reported continuously in the hilly areas, due to which life has been badly affected. The latest incident of cloudburst in Pader area of Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir has spread panic in the area. At least 10 people are reported dead in this accident, while rescue operations are still going on.Chaos due to cloudburst in KishtwarThe cloudburst incident near Chasoti village in Pader area of Kishtwar on Thursday put the local administration on high alert. Due to this natural disaster, the water level of rivers and streams rose rapidly, due to which there is a threat of floods in the surrounding villages. This remote village, which falls on the way to Machail Mata Yatra, has been badly affected by this disaster. After the accident, the annual pilgrimage of Machail Mata has been postponed.Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh gave a quick response to this incident and shared the information on social media platform X. He wrote, "We have received information from Leader of Opposition of Jammu and Kashmir and local MLA Shri Sunil Kumar Sharma that a cloudburst has occurred in Chasoti area of Pader. After talking to Deputy Commissioner of Kishtwar Shri Pankaj Kumar Sharma, the administration has immediately swung into action. Rescue teams are present at the spot, and the damage is being assessed. My office is taking regular updates and all possible assistance will be provided."The administration has appealed to maintain distance from rivers and streams, so that further damage can be prevented. Four days ago also, a cloudburst incident took place in Pader, due to which there was a strong flow in the drain of Sajar area and the water level of Chenab river increased.Rivers overflowing in RajouriHeavy rains have wreaked havoc in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir for the last two days. The water level of the rivers has reached dangerous levels, due to which the district administration has issued an alert for the people living in hilly areas. People have been advised not to go near rivers and streams.Rain devastation in Himachal PradeshMonsoon rains are also raining as a disaster in Himachal Pradesh. Cloudburst and floods have caused heavy devastation in areas like Shimla, Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti, and Kullu. Cloudburst near Shrikhand Mahadev in Rampur, Shimla, caused floods in Ganvi Valley. Five vehicles and four cottages were washed away in Tirthan Valley of Kullu. 22 families were evacuated to safer places in Mayad Valley of Lahaul-Spiti, while machinery and five employees of ITBP camp were trapped in Pooh, Kinnaur.323 roads, including two national highways, are closed in the state, and so far the loss is estimated to be Rs 2,031 crore. Houses, bridges and roads have been destroyed, bringing normal life to a standstill.Relief and rescue operations in full swingThe administration and disaster management teams are engaged in relief and rescue work in the affected areas. Work is going on on a war footing to evacuate people to safer places and provide medical facilities. Also, the local administration has appealed to the people to be cautious and keep a distance from the rivers.This monsoon has badly affected the hilly states of North India. The rising water level and frequent cloudbursts have posed a big challenge to the administration. Keeping an eye on the situation, the central and state governments are trying to provide all possible help to the affected areas.
