National News: Decision in the case of jailed Mokama MLA Anant Singh today

Delhi: The decision will come on Tuesday in the MP MLA Court on the ongoing case against Mokama MLA Anant Kumar Singh in Patna, Bihar. Patna Police found modern weapons AK 47 rifles, cartridges and hand grenades from Anant Singh's ancestral residence in raids. An FIR was lodged at Barh police station on 16 August 2019. In this case, the arguments in the court of police, prosecution and defense have been completed. Anant Singh is currently lodged in Beur Jail in Patna.

Special Judge Triloki Dubey of Patna MP MLA Court has fixed the date for the decision of this case on Tuesday. The Bihar government has kept this matter in the category of special case. Special Public Prosecutor has been appointed for the trial against the accused. A speedy trial was also conducted in this case.

The investigation of this case was filed in the court against the then ASP Lipi Singh of Barh subdivision and against MLA Anant Kumar Singh and caretaker Sunil Ram. The MP MLA Court had framed charges against MLA Anant Singh and the caretaker in this case on 15 October 2020.

After this, the appointed Special Public Prosecutor produced 13 police witnesses in the court. At the same time, 33 witnesses were presented by the defense on behalf of Anant Singh. The hearing of both the sides was completed on Monday. Now the court will give its verdict on Tuesday.

On 16 August 2019, Patna Police raided Anant Singh's ancestral house located in Ladwan village of Barh police station. During this, banned weapons AK 47, 33 live cartridges and two grenades were recovered from his ancestral house. The Barh Police Station had lodged an FIR against him.
