Anil Baijal has also been an IAS officer. Anil Baijal was made the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi on 31 December 2016. There was always a dispute between Lieutenant Governor Baijal and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over some issue or the other. Many a times, the Aam Aadmi Party government had also approached the court regarding its jurisdiction. This year too, during the fourth wave of Corona, there was no consensus between the Delhi government and the LG on the odd-even rule. During this, LG Anil Baijal had refused to accept the proposal of the Kejriwal government.

CBI inquiry was demanded

The tenure of the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi is not fixed. He replaced Najeeb Jung on 31 December 2016. After becoming the Lieutenant Governor, the tussle started between the Aam Aadmi Party government and Anil Baijal. Talks of confrontation between the Kejriwal government of Delhi and Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal have been coming to the fore over many matters. A year ago, Baijal had formed a three-member committee to look into the procurement process of 1000 buses of the Delhi government. After that there was a lot of uproar. At the same time, BJP had continuously demanded a CBI inquiry in this matter.

Their job is only to advise the government.

At the same time, there was an altercation with Anil Baijal over the Kejriwal government's plan to deliver ration from door to door in Delhi. Then this plan did not materialize even after three years. The Delhi government had approved the scheme in March 2018. The plan file was sent to the Lieutenant Governor. The CM of Delhi had said that the Lieutenant Governor rejected it. The LG said that his job is only to advise the government.
