Spread over a vast expanse of 5 acres, the Mughal Gardens at Rashtrapati Bhavan have drawn inspiration from the Mughal Gardens of Jammu and Kashmir, the gardens around the Taj Mahal and even miniature paintings from India and Persia. Just as the Rashtrapati Bhavan building has two different styles of architecture – Indian and Western, similarly, the Mughal Gardens have two different horticultural traditions, including the Mughal style and the English flower garden. Mughal canals, terraces and flowering shrubs are beautifully blended with European flowers, lawns and privet hedges. Various types of roses, tulips and herbal garden are the major attractions of the Mughal Gardens, apart from the herbal garden etc.On the occasion of the celebrations of 75 years of Independence as 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav', the President of India has given a common name to the Rashtrapati Bhavan gardens as 'Amrit Udyan': Navika Gupta, Deputy Press Secretary to President pic.twitter.com/VPsJKPdGwZ
